PGCE Experience Week - WEEK 9
This is an opportunity for anyone who wants to or is thinking about doing a PGCE and would like some more experience. Whether it is to improve your CV for an application or simply to decide what sort of teaching attracts you most, with many hours of experience on offer as well as a varied experience of primary, SEN & secondary, this is an ideal week for you!
Monday: Training day- Bowland North SR 23 - 10am-3pm
You will undergo LUVU usual safeguarding training as well as a vareity of skills training such as teamwork, communication & classroom management. (All good things to put on your CV)
There will also be training given with regard to children with autism.
Tuesday: Literacy day- Conference Centre Room 1 - 9am-3pm
30 year 8 students from a Blackpool High School who struggle in literacy skills will be coming on for an all day workshop of creative writing to help them with their literacy and hopefully enthuse them about books.
Wednesday: Creative arts visit- 11am-4pm
We will be visiting a large primary school in Blackpool and providing their year 4 with an afternoon of creative arts.
The morning on Wednesday will be mainly free with the possiblity of a CV workshop provided by CEEC, designed to help you get the most out of your volunteering when applying for jobs.
In the evening there will a wine and cheese social for all volunteers. We will also be invitiing recently graduated teachers to come and talk to you about the PGCE proces and share their experiences with you.
Thursday: Engineering day- Engineering Dept. 9am-2:30pm
30 year 9 students from a different Blackpool high school will be coming onto campus to spend a day in the engineering department. You will help run this day with the engineering dept. and will provide some of the morning activities.
Agnes Finlay- Personal Statement Workshop. IAS 4pm-5pm
Friday: Celebration II- Conference Centre - 8:30am-3pm
This will be a smaller scale version of the Celebration event that happened in week 5 (see the news story on the front page for more details). It will involve 4 primary schools from Lancaster, Morecambe & Blackpool including a special educational needs school. It will be a day of creative arts; with the morning for rehearsals and art activities that culminate in a performance to the children's parents and teachers.
Teacher Discussion followed by Wine and Cheese Social - Furness LT 3 - 5:30pm
