Creative Arts Project In Full Flow!

The Creative Arts team have now visited six schools: Bowerham Primary, Ridge Primary, The Loyne, Lancaster Road Primary, Caton Community Primary and Ellel St John’s Primary. The visits have gone down extremely well! Pupils, teachers and students alike have had a brilliant experience each time.

The visits have started with the children talking about what would be in their ‘green world’, including things such as: ‘recycling, dancing, walking, trees, sharing, friends and football’ and what is in their ‘grey world’ such as: ‘bullying, pollution, litter, factories, traffic and maths.’

The children then learn that recycling does not have to be boring, they are encouraged to think “What else could I do with this?” before putting something in the bin. They are then taught an example of this by turning simple newspapers into magnificent book-bags that they then decorate with their own ‘green’ messages.

The children then listen to world music and discuss the ‘grey things’ in that country and how their own actions in their world can affect the ‘green and grey things’ all over the world.

Finally there is then a big sing song to the tune of the ‘RECYCLE song’.

At the end of the visit the children will have learnt about how their actions can control what is ‘green’ and ‘grey’ in the world and will hopefully be inspired to go home and turn more things that would have been thrown away into something new.

The team are approximately half way through the project and the next half is on way to being just as enjoyable!
