Voltage Project Logo

The Voltage project inspires local sixth form students to be social entrepreneurs. The project works with teams from schools and further education colleges in Preston, Blackpool and Lancaster to teach them about social enterprise.

The 2008 Voltage Team

What is Social Enterprise?

A social enterprise business in its simplest form is a 'business trading for a social purpose' (www.socialenterprise.org.uk ). During your Voltage Induction you will be fully trained on what social enterprise is through various means including making Angel Delight...you'll have to join the project to find out why!

What exactly is Voltage?

The project starts by hosting conference days here at the university campus which teaches the school teams about social enterprise, marketing, writing business plans and team work through a variety of interactive talks and workshops. These days are organised by the event management team and the workshop leaders. The school teams then run their chosen social enterprise for six weeks supported by the school advisors. The project ends with a Gala Event, where the school teams present their businesses and prizes are awarded.

If you have any questions about the project please do not hesitate to get in touch with project coordinator Martha Jennings (details on the contacts page).
