Creative Arts Case Study

Sarah Hinton, 16/08/2007 - 10:59

Megan is a 2nd year Physical Geography student who was involved in the Creative Arts project from October 2006.

‘I got involved in the project because I’ve always enjoyed art, which I studied up to A Level, and wanted to continue it in some form. I also enjoy working with children and wanted the opportunity to find out more about working in schools with the possible career as a teacher in mind.

I helped to plan and run the sessions as part of a team. Most of my input concerned the more arty activities but I was able to give my opinion when planning other aspects too.

What I enjoyed most was helping the school children to create pictures showing their opinion on what would go in the green or grey worlds.  The children were very creative and thought about things in a different way, which was interesting and inspiring.

I think that schools should get involved in the Creative arts project because it gives children the opportunity to learn about important issues in a practical and stimulating way, and is a change from regular classroom activities.

During the project I gained confidence in dealing with people of all ages. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience and would highly recommend it.’
