You don't need to be a football king, a tennis pro, or a speedy runner to participate. You just need to enjoy sport and like the thought of leading sport sessions in the community.

You will be trained by Lancaster City Council's Sports Development Team to Level 1 Award in Community Sports Leadership

The course is approximately 95% practical and will run from 9am - 2pm at the University's Sports Centre on 5 Saturdays of term 1. It's not about learning a sport but learning how to deliver, coach, and organise people in sport.

In the second term you will go out weekly in teams of 2-4 to lead sports sessions in youth groups (mostly in the evenings) or take classes in primary schools (1/2 days). You will be volunteering for about 1-2 hours per week and will have to prepare your sessions in advance to ensure they run smoothly and everyone gets the most out of them.
