About

Launched in 2002 LUVU has quickly developed a culture of community volunteering at Lancaster University, focusing on developing innovative, community-based projects led by staff and student volunteers.

LUVU is as much a part of the local community as it is the University’s, it forms a key part of Lancaster University's third mission community outreach activity and is part of the Lancaster University Students' Union, with currently around 200 students volunteering and a further 100 being involved with LUVU's sister organisation, Create.

LUVU has recently been awarded the Investing in Volunteers standard. This is the UK quality standard, which enables us to review our volunteer management and demonstrates our commitment to volunteering.  It also ensures that we have in place all the policies to make sure our volunteers are safe, and are able to gain as much as possible from their volunteering activity.
